I love it when the phone rings and it’s one of our previous wedding couples asking us to photograph their maternity and new baby photos.  You may recognize S + E from the photo on our blog header!  Here’s some favourites from Steph + Eric’s session and cute little Elise at just a few weeks old.

magazine style album

We are excited about our wedding season which is just about to start with our first wedding on Valentine’s Day weekend at the Chapel!  The wedding will have a vintage theme and we can hardly wait to share the images from it!   In the meantime I have been busy designing albums for our couples from 2009.  Ashley + Greg’s  album is a custom magazine style album and their design includes a photo cover and glossy metallic pages.  It’s going to be stunning!  I LOVE designing custom albums and one of the things I love most is how they can retell the story of the wedding day.  Here are a few of the finished layouts from G + A’s album design.

Note:  We always give our couples the option of choosing their own images or letting us do it for them.  G + A asked me to choose their images (you are always given the option of making a few changes if you need to before the album is sent for printing).  So if you are having a hard time choosing photos for your album, don’t forget this option!  Just give me a call if you still need to order your album and need some help!

Kiss me, quickly!

1941 cata

I was looking through some old family photos and found this one of my grandparents on their wedding day in 1941. This is their story.

They were engaged when my grandmother Lorna was 28 years old and grandpa, Andy, was 30. They had been good friends for 9 years when grandpa was offered a job.  Work was to start in just two weeks and one of the requirements was that he be a married man.  He went straight to my grandma’s house and announced to her his plan for the two of them to get married.  After a moment grandma said yes.

Throughout their marriage they were inseparable (grandma never learned to drive and they went everywhere together) until my grandma’s death in 2001.  Grandpa died three years later and missed my grandma terribly.  I remember for years they had an aged newspaper clipping taped to their bedroom mirror, “ Kiss me,  quickly!  At our age every moment counts.” and that clipping completely defined their marriage.  They loved each other dearly for the 63 years they were together.  They lived a life full of adventure living in three different countries.  They raised 3 children, and had 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren at last count.  Every time I look at this photo of them I can’t help but smile…and miss them. andy 1st carBonsil William (Andy)  Anderson (1912-2004)lorna
