Sunshine, lavender and thistles

Add to that the sweetest couple and a ‘65 GTO.  Here’s a sneak peek for now!

alicia + rob. married!

We’ve posted a preview of A + R’s wedding at Chateau Cargill in White Rock and the couple’s session at White Rock Beach.  Finally, here is the full post.  Alicia + Rob are sweet and adventurous. It’s obvious at a glimpse that they are in love and perfect for each other!

The bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets were by Huckleberry Flowers with white hydrangeas for the bridesmaids and red peonies for the bride’s bouquet.0075-- 0055--0024-IMG_3536

ITALY – Cinque Terre & The Amalfi Coast

I won’t say much about this part of our trip, just that the photos don’t give the place justice.  It is impossible for us to convey the way your stomach lurches at the steepness of the rocky outcrops, the heat and humidity on your skin, or the tightness of the curves of the (crazy narrow!) roads.  We were amazed at the resourcefulness of the local people in finding the space to grow beautiful gardens and carry on their regular lives on the narrow terraces.  I hope you can see a glimpse of all this in our photos.  Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable because there are a lot of them!

First there is the Cinque Terre, or “five lands”, on a remote part of the Italian Riviera.  The five villages are a maze of steep stairways and alleyways too steep for cars and are joined by trails along the coast.   This is the beach at Vernazza where we stayed for a few days.0043travel photogIMG_57620040travel photogIMG_5478z

The next section is from the Amalfi coast.  One of our favourite places in Italy.  The bus ride there is an adventure in itself with sheer cliffs 500 feet above the ocean.    0001travel photogIMG_5795

Jennifer Rodriguez-Cruz - So amazing, guys. I have to say though, for me, there is just something about the closeup one of just the boats…

michelle horsman - So awesome you guys! Italy looks amazing! It makes me want to go there even more now. Great job as always!

Michelle - I love the pics of the beach chairs and umbrellas. Might need a couple for my house… :)

elizabeth - thanks for the comments ladies!

Lynne (friend of Elise and Pierre) - absolutely beautiful pictures… and you did do the Amafli Coast justice… simply breathtaking… just like the place itself. Thanks!

Mark & I felt so honoured to be asked to photograph J + B’s wedding.  We shed more than a tear or two hearing what their family and friends had to say about them.  They really are two of the kindest people we’ve met and are amazing together.  Here’s just a small peek at their wedding photos. IMG_9305

MISSION WEDDING 2010

ITALY – Venice

We came home from our month-long trip to Italy recharged and inspired, and with a ridiculous number of photos.  With no computer, no everyday chores and no deadlines, we travelled as much as possible and took photos -just for the fun of it- to our hearts content.   Now we are faced with the dilemma of going through thousands of photographs.

How does a little bit of Venice sound to start off with?

Venice is a maze of ancient alleys and waterways, a mix of old and new, fashion and history, with each narrow cobblestoned path leading to another, more intriguing, more colourful… and confusing. At one point we walked for over an hour only to find ourselves right back where we had started.  (If you ever visit Venice don’t go out without your map, especially at night!)  We had considered not going to Venice after we heard that it was touristy and maybe not really worth seeing but we’re glad we did.  Venice is heaven for a photographer and omg, we can’t help thinking that photographing a wedding in Venice would be incredible!  Our whole trip to Italy was sunny and hot with temperatures in the 30’s but the few days we spent in Venice were windy and stormy ones, so we put on our rain gear, covered our cameras as best we could and headed out.

A rainy day in Venice…

tanya + jason’s vancouver wedding

In just a few days Mark and I are packing to go on a trip we have been looking forward to for what seems like forever.  It will be great to spend some time, just the two of us, away from our busy lives and in Italy, one of the most beautiful places in the world.  This the timing of this post about Tanya and Jason’s Italian wedding couldn’t be more fitting for us.   T + J’s wedding is really what weddings are all about for us;  about family, creating new memories and capturing moments full of emotion.  The photos of Tanya and her grandmother sharing a sweet and emotional moment (scroll down to the bottom) reminded us again why we love what what we do. Hope you’re ready for this post.  It’s a long one!0009
